Central Heating And Styling Your Hair

Posted by admin 22 January, 2009 (0) Comment

happy-hairEver noticed how during the colder months, when you have the central heating on that even though it can make the rooms nice and cosy for you when coming out of the shower or the bath that when it comes to dealing with your wet hair afterwards that the heat from the rooms can interfere with the styling of your hair?

With the hair often being finer at the front and if you happen to suffer from frizzy hair at all you can sometimes notice the front of your hair drying out almost too quickly, and if your trying to get straightening cream or something similar applied to your hair while its still holding some moisture you can find yourself struggling to get it on quick enough before that front hair starts to already look dried out.

Its not always easy to turn down the heating when its extremely cold outside and your trying to stay warm and comfortable in your home, but if you have just come out of a shower or bath theres a chance that you will already be feeling a bit warmer anyway.

If you can turn down your heating possibly about an hour or so before you plan to wash your hair, so that the rooms dont go cold but that the temperature is lower and that you dont have such a build up of dry heat in the room then you will find that you have extra time to work with your hair before areas of your hair start drying out.

You then get a chance to apply your hair products without rushing, possibly avoiding pulling on the length of your wet hair so much, which is always best avoided.

Its well known that heat can be damaging to the hair, that is heat applied directly, but of course when it comes to drying and styling your hair then room heat and too much of it can become an annoyance when your trying to get your hair looking just how you want it to.

And when you think of the combination of that heat, when you combine the heat from the room, with possible use of a hair dryer and maybe straighteners too, its all a lot of heat exposure for your hair to deal with over a short space of time.

Dont freeze at home during the cold days and evenings though, im in no way suggesting that you deprive yourself of heat, nice looking hair but with a streaming head cold wont look so good :) but just controlling the heat in your home for hair drying and styling times can make your efforts more manageable and satisfying.

Getting Your Beauty Sleep

Posted by admin 12 January, 2009 (0) Comment

sleepA major contributor towards how we look each day and eventually how we look years from now is down to the amount of sleep and proper rest that we get and also how well we keep to a stable sleep pattern.

Its very easy to miss out on sleep, sometimes sitting up later than usual to watch a film or a hectic day that leaves you with very little time and unable to get to bed earlier than you had hoped.

This is understandable as sometimes its just difficult to get an early night and you cant predict unexpected visitors, a chore needing to be done within your home or anything else.

If at all possible though, you should put as much effort into trying to get to bed at a time that you know will give you enough hours of sleep, most of us get to know how much sleep we can get by on in order to function at a normal level throughout the day, but this should not be confused with the amount of sleep that you may need in order to look refreshed and to lessen any shadows and tiredness around the eyes and the overall look of your face.

Your body and mind can often adapt to getting not enough sleep and if it goes on for long enough and your only getting 5 or 6 hours sleep each night or whenever you sleep you may start to feel that this is all that you need, by then you have probably got used to feeling not fully refreshed and may begin to think this is as good as you can achieve.

And you may keep weekend mornings for trying to “catch up” on your sleep and getting a lie-in, but i personally believe that a person cannot catch up on sleep that they should have got during the week.

Often a lie-in after nights of not enough sleep can have you waking up feeling more sluggish and you may notice that it takes longer for you to feel fully awake after you have lay- in for a morning.

Its much better to try and get the same amount of sleep each night, and to get up at around the same time each morning.

By doing this you allow your body to get used to this awake and asleep cycle, your body clock gets used to the times, instead of having to constantly adjust to different times.

After a couple of nights of good sleep you may begin to feel a whole lot better, but its usually going to take more than just a couple of good nights sleep before you begin to see a change in your facial appearance.

If through tiredness you experience dry, sore or even sticky feeling eyes, sometimes itchy, slowly you will feel all of this beginning to ease, redness of the eyes, burst blood vessels and the overall health of your eyes and their appearance will be greatly improved.

Through tiredness you have probably suffered from incrased eyestrain, squinting and frowning and of course this can lead to fine lines appearing around the eyes, creases on the forehead and you probably haven’t realised that you have been doing this at times.

Your immune sytem may be lower than normal due to continued lack of sleep, as a result you can end up catching colds and viruses, possibly getting occasional pimples and spots on the skin and again contributing to a run down and tired look, but as you begin to get your sleep pattern sorted and stick to it you see a great improvement.

Your face begins to look bright, healthier, you feel better, that frowning and tiredness of the eyes begins to ease, its like a new you.

Best of all the results come not from some wonder product, not from something expensive, but from yourself and your determination to get enough rest and quality sleep, your body gets used to your better sleep pattern and to going to bed and getting up at around the same times and rewards you with a better looking you.

Each morning sleeping beauty awakes and you like what you see in the mirror, you are rewarded for your effort, your body thanks you and combined with your other beauty practices you begin to get the most from it all and really do look your best.

Anti Aging Skin Care

Posted by admin 7 January, 2009 (0) Comment

As life expectancy increases with improvements in living standards over the decades and the last few hundred years it means that many of us are living into a good old age.

Naturally with age comes wrinkles and a loss in elasticity of the skin and this is what leads to a loosening of the skin, losing its tautness and so at first you begin to see very faint lines on the surface of the skin, often barely noticeable unless you look very closely, but over the years these lines can deepen until you begin to see a wrinkling of the skin.

Often an area where this will bother you most will be on the face, and because our faces are exposed to the weather throughout the years, often more so than other areas of our body it can mean that your facial skin endures extreme cold, extreme heat, winds and everything else that weather conditions can throw at you.

Your lifestyle plays a big part in how your skin will look as you begin to age, if you are a smoker for example, then you will definately see the effects from this on your skin as you get older, theres no doubt that smokers will see negative effects on the skin, especially if you have been a heavy smoker.

And although sunshine can work wonders for the skin, often helping to clear the complexion and generally giving you a glow and healthy look, it can equally be bad for your skin if you do not protect it from harmful rays, so a bit of regular sun bathing during the summer months is good but make sure that you use an appropriate protection factor for your skin type.

Dont allow your skin to suffer sun burn and always moisturize after any sun bathing or even after having just been out in the sun during a day out.

Now, lets think about the many anti aging products available for you, fortunately there is a fantastic choice of products available on the market and some really work wonders for your skin.

They can be priced quite moderately, but as you know, some are quite highly priced, and are not a realistic option for all women.

With all of these anti aging face creams, eye products and other products available, you can really benefit from the investment in the regular use of these products but ideally the best approach is to combine their use with every other effort that you can make to minimize aging of your skin in the first place.

Prevention is always better than the cure and the cure can be rather expensive at times, so even if your quite young and not particularly worried about wrinkles and the effects of aging on your skin, think about how you can create a plan for yourself now, something that you will continue with through the years.

It can have a huge inpact on the way your skin will age, by looking after your skin from a young age you make your job easier for yourself as you do begin to get older.

At these current times you have the best of both worlds, plenty of information of what is good for your skin and a good selection of quality anti aging products on the market to choose from, with the right approach and some early planning you can slow down the signs and effects of aging on your skin and at the same time save yourself money in the future.
