Excessive Hair Dying And Potential Damage
Dying your hair even just occasionally can pose a risk to the health of your hair but if you dye your hair really quite often then theres very little chance that your hair is going to be able to stand all of that harshness brought to the hair by regular dying of it.
For example going from your natural color or an already bleached blonde then quickly to a dark color then back again to dyed blonde in a short space of time will pretty much guarantee that you will be having problems with your hair after all of that.
Commonly it will result in regular breakage of your hair, it really dries out your hair making it harder to manage and the extra effort needed to try and get your hair looking acceptable means further strain and stress and before you know it you have a frustrating situation that will take some time to get back to normal.
Although there are hair repair products available these will often not be enough if your hair is extremely damaged, they can help you a bit so that your hair wont look so dried out but once you take your hair to a certain state of damage it often becomes beyond repair and can often require you to get a shorter cut and then a long break from any hair dye so that your hair gets a chance to recover properly.
When dying your hair, be aware of the potential damage that can occur that will at times take months for your hair to begin to recover from.
Central Heating And Styling Your Hair
Ever noticed how during the colder months, when you have the central heating on that even though it can make the rooms nice and cosy for you when coming out of the shower or the bath that when it comes to dealing with your wet hair afterwards that the heat from the rooms can interfere with the styling of your hair?
With the hair often being finer at the front and if you happen to suffer from frizzy hair at all you can sometimes notice the front of your hair drying out almost too quickly, and if your trying to get straightening cream or something similar applied to your hair while its still holding some moisture you can find yourself struggling to get it on quick enough before that front hair starts to already look dried out.
Its not always easy to turn down the heating when its extremely cold outside and your trying to stay warm and comfortable in your home, but if you have just come out of a shower or bath theres a chance that you will already be feeling a bit warmer anyway.
If you can turn down your heating possibly about an hour or so before you plan to wash your hair, so that the rooms dont go cold but that the temperature is lower and that you dont have such a build up of dry heat in the room then you will find that you have extra time to work with your hair before areas of your hair start drying out.
You then get a chance to apply your hair products without rushing, possibly avoiding pulling on the length of your wet hair so much, which is always best avoided.
Its well known that heat can be damaging to the hair, that is heat applied directly, but of course when it comes to drying and styling your hair then room heat and too much of it can become an annoyance when your trying to get your hair looking just how you want it to.
And when you think of the combination of that heat, when you combine the heat from the room, with possible use of a hair dryer and maybe straighteners too, its all a lot of heat exposure for your hair to deal with over a short space of time.
Dont freeze at home during the cold days and evenings though, im in no way suggesting that you deprive yourself of heat, nice looking hair but with a streaming head cold wont look so good
but just controlling the heat in your home for hair drying and styling times can make your efforts more manageable and satisfying.
Touching Your Hair And Possible Damage To It
In time too much of anything can do damage and this is especially true regarding hair, with drying and styling, it can eventually leave the hair damaged and prone to breakage but even without that the hair can encounter damage through too much touching of the hair and if you suffer from greasy hair you may find that constantly moving your hair to the sides, possibly to brush your hair out of the way of your face can contribute to spreading the grease near the scalp down the length of the hair strands.
Sometimes a person may play with their hair, twisting it and bending it, possibly through nervousness or even just boredom but too much of this can result in avoidable damage and again its something that can spread oils along the strands and as a result the hair looks greasier than it normally would.
Its normal to have to sweep your hair out of the way of your face with your fingers or possibly to pass your fingers through an area of your hair to settle it and prevent tangling and doing this a few times in the day is fine but if you are regularly playing with your hair, possibly even pulling at it and stretching it then you may be constantly doing damage to it and dulling the look of your hair by spreading sweat and bacteria picked up by your hands onto the hair.
Try to resist as much as you can, the need to touch your hair, unless absolutely neccessary, if it is done purely out of habit then you need to try and break that habit, it may not be easy at first because you may not even realise that you are doing it half of the time.
And one other important tip to avoid damage is to not chew on your hair, a repulsive thought for some but again a bad habit for others.
