Could You Be Exfoliating Too Much?

Posted by admin 14 March, 2009

While exfoliating should be part of your routine for your facial skin there is a chance that you could be doing it too often and not giving your skin a chance to renew itself.

Although there are exfoliating products that are stated as being fine for daily use, you should still go by your own skin and take note of what your complexion and the current look of your own skin is telling you.

Even though the exfoliation process is helping to remove the dead skin cells, you dont want to risk overdoing it so that you dont actually benefit from your facial routine.

If you’re not giving the skin on your face a chance to renew itself you may be looking at it and seeing dullness and thinking that you need to exfoliate even more, when infact you probably need to do the opposite and not exfoliate as often as you are doing.

Two or three times per week should be enough, if you can use an exfoliation product on your face everyday without any negative effects and your skin seems ok with it then carry on doing so, but where you feel that you might not be fully benefiting from the exfoliation process on your face then ease off from the amount of times that you do it weekly until you find a balance where you still get rid of those dead skin cells but at the same time not being harsh on the newly generated skin cells.

For some a weekly exfoliation of your face might be enough, everyone’s skin is different and a product’s guidance information is just that, for some people a so called sensitive product recommended for daily use may still be a little harsh on some womens faces.

You will know when you have got the balance just right and from that point on you have a good understanding of how often your face will require exfoliating.
